Penistone is a market town situated 700 feet above sea level in the Upper Don Valley. A market was first established in 1699 and is still held every Thursday.

The town is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is an ideal centre for exploring The Peak District and "The Last of the Summer Wine Country."

The Old Vicarage Guest House us situated opposite the Parish Church, in the heart of Penistone and close to the Trans Pennine Trail.

The highlight of the year is the Penistone Show, which is held on the second Saturday in September. It is the largest one day show in the north of England and attracts people from all over the country.
